Just installed an app on my iphone giving me daily updates on our energy and gas consumptions. This app and data is provided by oxxio. I am wondering if these daily updates will make me more energy conscious.

At a dutch site ‘milieu centraal’ is giving an indication of the CO2 emissions you and your family produce. In my case I am under average but this largely depends on my car travels. It is nice to see that our new boiler and the weather have a great impact on our gas consumption! Our choice for a Volvo V50 DrivE with 104 grams CO2/kilometer emission also will contribute to a smaller carbon footprint.

I Just came across a new search engine, ecosia. This search engine aims to contribute to saving the rainforest one web-search at a time. By donating the revenue on sponsored links to the WWF they want to contribute to a better planet in the spirit of Copenhagen Summit! Good stuff!

Yesterday I installed Parallels 4 and Windows 7 on my MacBook. Main reason was to get more out of Sharepoint. YNNO, the company I work for, is using Sharepoint 2007 for more than a year now. Since I am using a mac some features are not fully available (only IE is fully supported). Some other company sites are not fully available on the Mac.

So I finally made up my mind, I would use parallels and windows. Of course Windows 7 RC1 was my Windows version of choice.

After making a final backup using timemachine, I moved on downloading the software obtaining the right licencing keys. Parallels installation was fine and the installation of Windows 7 went perfect. I used these two blogpost to get it al working, the first at simplehelp.net and the other one at lockernerd. When all my windows 7 settings were done and everything was working fine I went to tryout all the stuff I was missing in Safari. Of course the IE version of choice was IE8.

The first thing that went wrong was the windows explorer integration. It did not even appear in the actions menu. Opening the library direct inside windows explorer did not work as well. The second was the richtext editing in a wiki, still have to use HTML codes to get some formatting going. The strange thing is the RTF editor is working.

Some things were working better in IE8 than in Safari or Firefox but not everything alas… One very nice thing to mention is performance which is great! My macbook with parallels and windows 7 performs twice as fast minimum!

UPDATE: when I was running the 32bit IE8 version all bug mentioned above were solved: so the quick and easy solution is to use the 32bit version and not the 64bit version of IE8!

Yesterday I ran the half marathon together with my dad! We did it in a time of 1 hour 51 minutes and 8 seconds. It was great running through Amsterdam together. The crowd was very big and cheerfull. Some video materials are available at this link.

Now looking forward to the next physical challenge, maybee the half marathon in utrecht in April?

Well actually it started yesterday. I was interviewed for an article in NRC Handelsblad this week and it already was in the paper on thursday!

On october 10th there will the the second meetup of enterprise 2.0 enthousiasts in The Netherlands. For now the meetup will cover the challanges on enterprise 2.0 in adoption and technology!

Well actually my information diet is going quiet nice. My outlook is performing so badly at the moment I could read email if I want to. Recentley I installed Xobni, which I like very much, but since that point it has gotten worse. With pain in my hart I am uninstalling xobni today…

I am finding it very hard to simply give up on email. The habit of replying and sending attachements by mail is so strong! Sometimes there is hardly a suitable alternative that is safe and accesible for the other side. But I guess it is simply a alternative for the long run changing your habits and ultimately making everybodies live better but using less and less email.

Yesterday I had a great run, 15,5 kilometers! That is my farest run in like one year. Today my legs are actually feeling good. This is all in training for running a half marathon in oktober in Amsterdam. My goal is to complete it in 1 hour 45. So I have some work to do but also a lot of time to get it done.

It is great to see nowadays that you can get trainingprograms online everywhere to make your own. I am using a scheme to have a easy long distance run, a very fast short run and then a medium distance run. It is a great scheme because you have variation in training. Every few weeks I upgrade the number of kilometers to get stronger!

I am trying hard to stay on the information diet. Today I worked like crazy to work through a couple of MB of data to give a good representation of sitevisits for a client. Whole day long I only checked email two times and stayed away from internet all together! Missing out on email, news and twitter surely made working more efficient. Got to keep this up at home, by trying to stay away from TV. Now busy cleening up my bookshelve and needing a solution for my magazines…
